THOM today is a successful medium-sized technology company. Our roots are firmly grounded in our region; our beginnings humble. Master locksmith Herbert Thom and metal worker Stefan Schmiedbauer founded their companies in 1968 and 1974 respectively, achieving success within a few years. The key to this success was a total committment to quality, devotion to problem-solving, eagerness for innovation and a clear goal: fulfilling the customer's needs. Their speciality: metal and the machines which may be built to enable large quantities of high quality materials to be processed into brand products - quickly and cleanly.

Stefan Schmiedbauer sold his company to Torsten Thom in 2002. Thom Metall- und Maschinenbau GmbH continues the tradition of quality and customer satisfaction.
